Lucky to live in such a beautiful place

Taking no.3 for a walk to get him to sleep while no.2 is playing at playcentre. Queenstown is so beautiful.

Wedding cake , intense piping!

I was asked to make a wedding cake by a friend of someone who won a cake I made for kindy last year. The bride to be wanted a very simple petal cake. I haven't really done much piping before so I did a practice one first before I committed to the order and made sure the bride to be was happy with it. So here is the one I made for her wedding. This was done using the technique found on the Internet where you pipe dots vertically and then use the back of the spoon to flatten it across the cake. Took a while and I had to redo quite a bit as the buttercream was too soft at first and some bits I just didn't think looked quite right. The top of the cake was trickiest but got there in the end!

M & m's cake with the boys

So I've decided to try this blogging business after making hubby Iain's birthday cake with Brodie (no.1 son) and Coen (no.2 son)!

We had such a great time, the boys loved decorating and designing the cake. It was a very special moment as the boys were sharing their turns putting the m and ms on and I think they fully enjoyed being allowed to decorate the cake! I did do a few realignments when the boys weren't looking!
